Itinerary

Arrive in Kisoro and check into your eco-lodge at the edge of one of Uganda’s stunning forest reserves. In the afternoon, take a guided forest walk in the Echuya Forest Reserve or Bwindi buffer zone — a chance to spot primates, birds, and indigenous trees, and learn about local conservation efforts.

Evening briefing on the days ahead and dinner by the fireside.

Today is devoted to the Batwa Trail, a powerful experience led by Batwa elders who once lived within these forests. Walk their ancestral paths, learn how they hunted, gathered medicine, and lived in harmony with nature.

This immersive cultural trek includes song, dance, fire-making, and storytelling — a meaningful connection to one of Africa’s oldest forest communities.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience. The trek can last several hours depending on the gorilla group’s location, but the reward — standing just meters from a family of wild mountain gorillas — is unforgettable.

After the trek, return to your lodge for rest and reflection.

Choose a light community walk or opt for a forest-edge hike to explore more of the landscape. Visit a local homestead or craft cooperative to see how conservation and tourism support daily life. You’ll also have time to relax or enjoy optional activities such as canoeing on nearby Lake Chahafi or Lake Mutanda.

After breakfast, say goodbye to the forest and its people. Optional transfers to Kigali, Kabale, or Entebbe can be arranged.
