Itinerary

Upon arrival in Kisoro, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to your lodge nestled in the rolling hills of Kigezi. After settling in, the day begins with a guided visit to the Home of Kigezi, a cultural center dedicated to preserving the traditions, tools, music, and lifestyle of the Kigezi people. You’ll explore exhibits, witness traditional dances, and even try out the local instruments.

In the evening, enjoy a warm welcome dinner featuring local dishes.

Start your day with a traditional cooking class, where local women guide you through the preparation of signature Bakiga dishes such as millet bread, groundnut sauce, and steamed bananas. The session includes harvesting from a community garden, using local tools, and sharing the meal together.

In the afternoon, join a basket weaving workshop, where you’ll learn from skilled artisans how to create beautiful handmade crafts using natural fibers. You’ll leave with your own woven creation as a special souvenir.

Optional evening: Take a walk through the village or relax by a campfire with traditional songs.

On your final morning, gather with village elders for a powerful storytelling session. These oral historians will share tales of origin, folklore, wisdom, and lessons passed down through generations. It’s a rich, emotional way to understand the identity and values of the people of Kigezi.

After the session, you’ll have time for photos and goodbyes before being transferred to your next destination.
