Itinerary

Arrive in the vibrant highland town of Kisoro. You’ll be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your lodge overlooking the volcanoes or Lake Mutanda. Take the evening to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Set off early for your first gorilla trek in Bwindi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Trek through thick, ancient jungle guided by experienced rangers until you encounter a gorilla family in their natural habitat — a humbling and unforgettable hour. Return to the lodge for relaxation and reflection.

Today is a slower-paced experience. Enjoy a traditional dug-out canoe ride on the peaceful waters of Lake Mutanda, surrounded by volcanoes and dotted with islands. It’s the perfect opportunity for birdwatching, photography, and quiet contemplation. Optional visit to a lakeside village or fishing experience.

Embark on a cultural journey into the forest with Batwa elders, learning how this indigenous group once lived, hunted, gathered herbs, and worshipped in the forest. Through storytelling, dance, and forest walks, you’ll gain insight into their past struggles and current resilience. A moving, educational experience.

Head into the Mgahinga Gorilla Park for your second gorilla trek — a completely different terrain, with bamboo forests and spectacular mountain views. The gorilla family here is known for playful behavior and breathtaking backdrops. It’s a second chance to meet these gentle giants in a new setting.

Early morning, track the rare and endangered golden monkeys, found only in the Virunga volcanic range. These lively primates with golden-orange fur are a delight to observe as they leap through the forest canopy. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, or enjoy optional cultural or scenic add-ons.

Enjoy a final breakfast with a view before your transfer to Kisoro airstrip or onward travel arrangements. Say goodbye to the mountains — and the memories.
